I’ve had this sketched and waiting for me to do something with it since 2020. I remember I taped the photo under a piece of watercolor paper on the kitchen window so I could trace the figures.
I so badly want to paint faces, capture character, place crumbs of emotions within the eyes. But it’s incredibly intimidating. So I took some color pencils to this to lighten the pressure.
I tried to work to show form/shape and shading with the color pencil and I know there is a way to get a smooth blends but for my purposes, this was perfect. Now to try again with watercolors and oil paints!
